Two passengers on the same aircraft, in the same cabin, can pay different penalties to cancel and carry different baggage. The letter beside the price is why.
Every price an airline returns comes with a letter — L, M, O, U and so on. Agencies tend to read it as "how cheap", and it is, but that is the smallest thing it decides.
One letter, four consequences
- The price the seat sells at.
- The refund scale that applies if it is cancelled.
- The free baggage allowance.
- Whether it can be changed or refunded at all.
This is why no page can publish a refund percentage: the scale belongs to the flight and the class together.
