The booking reference (PNR) identifies the reservation; the ticket number is issued when the ticket is paid for, and it is what proves the seat is paid.
Frequently asked
The booking reference is usually six characters and points at the reservation. The ticket number is longer and exists only after the ticket has been issued and paid for.
The airline has accepted the refund. The money returns through the agency that issued the ticket — ask them, or follow it in the refund tracker.
The ticket was cancelled before use, normally to correct an error in issuing and before the passenger travelled.
